Liu Jinsong, director-general of the Asian Affairs Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, on Wednesday lodged solemn representations to Yokochi Akira, chief minister of the Embassy of Japan in China, regarding the erroneous and negative statements related to China in the new version of defense white paper released by Japan on Tuesday.
In response to Japan's 2025 Defense of Japan pamphlet, which claims China as an "unprecedented and the greatest strategic challenge," accuses China of attempting "unilateral changes to the status quo by force" and makes inappropriate remarks on the Taiwan question, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin said on Wednesday that Japan, in an attempt to find excuse for its military expansion, has fabricated false narratives, grossly hyped the "China threat" and blatantly interfered in China's internal affairs. China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this and has already lodged solemn representations with Japan.
Japan's latest defense white paper reflects a wrong perception of China, interferes in China's internal affairs and peddles the false "China threat," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a press conference on Tuesday.
"We urge Japan to deeply reflect on its historical crimes, draw lessons from history and stop finding pretexts for its military buildup by talking up 'tensions' in the neighborhood and issues related to China. It needs to avoid further losing the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community," Lin said.
